Since the release of her debut single, “Blue,” in 2020, Caitlin Quisenberry has proven herself to be one of the top rising vocalists in country music. In October 2023, Quisenberry was given the opportunity to showcase her talent for a national audience with a blind audition on NBC’s ‘The Voice.’
After turning the chairs of coaches Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani with her stunning rendition of Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow,” Quisenberry joined the queen of country and set her journey on the show in motion.
To celebrate joining the show, Quisenberry has released a studio version of “Rainbow,” which packs the same emotional punch she brought to ‘The Voice’ stage, which you can catch her on again this upcoming Monday!
We chatted with Quisenberry all about the show, recording “Rainbow,” her big plans for the new year and more!

Pro Country: Your blind audition for The Voice aired in early October. Can you talk about how the opportunity to audition for the show came?
Caitlin Quisenberry: It came at the perfect time; when I was in a bit of a slump. It was recommended by my friend and music collaborator Zach Heckendorf. That led me to the rigorous audition process for The Voice, along with 50,000 other applicants. I’ll never forget the day I got the call from the producers saying I made it to the final 98, who would be flown to LA for the blind auditions!
PC: You auditioned with Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow.” What drew you to choose that song to audition with?
CQ: “Rainbow” resonated deeply with me, reflecting my personal struggles and conveying a message of hope. My admiration for Kacey Musgraves and her ability to blend country and pop drew me to choose her song for my audition.
PC: Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani turned their chairs for you during your performance. What was it like for you to see musical superstars and icons recognizing your talent and turning their chairs for you?
CQ: It was surreal and nerve-wracking to sing to the back of the judges in hopes of one of their chairs turning. Then seeing Reba and Gwen turn around for me did validate my artistry, but in the moment, I was so overwhelmed, it was hard to keep my composure and keep singing! I even forgot my words for a second! No one can prepare you for a moment like that.

PC: Your blind audition has earned over half a million views on YouTube alone. What has it been like for you to know that so many people had the opportunity to see you perform on national television?
CQ: I’m thrilled about the half-million views on YouTube; it was my aim to expand my fanbase and share my music with a wider audience. It’s crazy to think that one night (so far) on TV can do that! Now, my focus is on maintaining that momentum.
PC: You ultimately decided to join Team Reba. Can you talk us through that decision?
CQ: After carefully considering both pitches, I couldn’t resist joining Team Reba. Her extensive career in music, film and TV, our shared red hair, and her being The Queen of Country solidified my decision.
PC: You recently released a studio recording of “Rainbow.” How much fun did you have laying the song down in the studio?
CQ: Recording “Rainbow” in the studio was a very fulfilling experience. Each word carried the weight of my journey on The Voice, and I aimed to share that emotional connection with my listeners. My music is a roadmap of my life, so I couldn’t leave this one out!
PC: With “Rainbow” now released, what do you have planned for the rest of 2023 and going into 2024?
CQ: I just released another song, “Boy What’s Your Speed”, which is an original track I wrote. I also have more music dropping and other surprises planned for this year, including a Christmas movie sync placement. In 2024, expect plenty of new music and exciting projects.
PC: Is there anything you’d like to add?
CQ: A special thank you to Justin and Pro Country Music for their unwavering support since the start of my musical journey. I encourage everyone to follow them and show them the same love they’ve shown me.
