Over the last handful of years, Ryan Nelson has cemented himself as one of the premiere singer/songwriters in Nashville. Recently celebrating a gold record with Riley Green’s “When She Comes Home Tonight,” Nelson has also landed cuts on releases by Jelly Roll and Meghan Patrick, as well as sharing stages with Green, Jelly Roll and Tracy Lawrence.
With all of those successes under his belt, it would be easy for Nelson to rest on those laurels, however, he’s not just looking back, he’s looking forward as well, which he has captured on his newest single, “The Next One.”
Officially releasing tomorrow, we’re excited to premiere the track a day early!
On his newest effort, Nelson offers a singalong chorus as an electric guitar-driven melody brings a made-for-the-stage energy to the track.
“People aren’t kidding you when they say this is a 10-year town, and the 10 years I’ve spent here feel like a lifetime that’s gone by in the blink of an eye,” says Nelson. “Looking back, especially in this business, it’s really easy to wonder about the what-ifs, but that’ll drain you before long. So, instead, I try to get excited about the ‘okay, what now?’ For me, your best drink, day and song you’ve ever written should ALWAYS be the next one.”
