Taylor Austin Dye Flexes Her Rocking Muscles on New Single, “Poison In The Well”

Taylor Austin Dye had quite a year in 2023.

She went viral several times over on social media, released her debut album to the tune of millions of streams across platforms and brought her country-rocking tunes all over the country as she honed in on her sound and presented the truest version of herself as an artist.

“Musically, 2023 was my favorite year yet!” says Dye. “I feel like I have finally found my ‘sound’ through many years of trial and error. Since January ‘23, ‘Rest In Peace’ has garnered millions of streams, and those new fans stuck around for my debut album I put out in September. I am so incredibly proud of that record, and I am so excited to already be working on another!”

It’d be easy to rest on those laurels, but Dye is forging ahead and is hellbent to make 2024 even bigger.

The Kentucky native is kicking off her year with the release of “Poison In The Well,” which picks up right where her debut album, Out of These Hills, left off; further cementing Dye as one of the premiere storytellers and scene setters in country music today.

Released less than half a year after Out of These Hills, Dye says “Poison In The Well” was a natural follow up to the album.

“If you’ve had a chance to listen to Out of These Hills, you’ll notice I absolutely love writing songs that tell a story. It was the obvious choice for me to have this song follow the album because of its fun and spunky nature, all while sticking with the theme of telling a story, almost like a continuation of the record itself,” says Dye. “It’s always my goal to keep pushing out music that I love, and that’s what I plan to do again this year!”

“Poison In The Well” sees Dye once again teaming up with “Damage Inc.,” a songwriting trio also comprising Nicole Croteau and Chris Utley, who also co-penned her now signature songs “Rest in Peace” and “Bible Belt.”

“Damage Inc. strikes again!” says Dye. “We started the day like always, shooting the shit and catching up on each other’s lives. Then we got into reading hooks to each other out of our phone notes. A title that Nicole glazed over caught my attention, and it happened to be ‘Poison In The Well.’ I immediately related it to my small hometown in Eastern Kentucky where the rumor mill runs hot and the gossip is always flowing. I started spilling the stories of the busy bodies in town gathering at the diner to talk about everybody’s business. Utley laid down a sick track as always, and the rest is history.”

Dye’s newest effort sees her dialing her rock influence up a few notches, as “Poison In The Well” comes equipped with a thunderous backbeat and ripping guitar solo.

“I always like to push the limits sonically with my songs. I was brought up on all kinds of music from Hank to AC/DC, and that is definitely evident in my music,” says Dye. “When I’m in the studio, I love thinking ahead to how a song will translate in our live shows. It’s really fun for us as a band to have Ben and Scottie on those rocking beats and Jason tearing up a solo on stage. I get to dance around and have the time of my life. It’s a win/win!”

Dye will have plenty of opportunities to bring “Poison In The Well” to audiences around the country, as she has plenty of shows on the books through the spring, including a run of dates with Tracy Byrd in March and April.

“The live performance aspect of my music is so very important to me. There is nothing I love more than being out on the road and meeting new ‘Ride Or Dyes’ along the way,” says Dye. “I am incredibly honored to be out on tour with a country legend like Tracy Byrd, and especially to be playing parts of the US I have never played before! We have accepted lots of dates all over the country in 2024 that we cannot wait to share in the near future!”

As she looks forward to bringing her music on the road in 2024, Dye is encouraging her fans to stay on their toes for more exciting news this year, including new music.

“2024 is definitely going to be a year full of new cities, but it will also be a year of lots of new music!” says Dye. “I’ve already been writing vigorously and have even been in the studio since ‘Poison In The Well.’ I may have a few other big announcements up my sleeve, so don’t blink.”
