Brandi Behlen Returns with Fun Love Story “Bad Boy, Good Man”

Just because it’s been nearly eight months since she released a solo single doesn’t mean Brandi Behlen hasn’t been hard at work preparing to make 2024 one of her biggest years yet.

A busy touring schedule and a slate of new music on the horizon is sure to get fans excited, and she’s giving the first look at new music with her new single “Bad Boy, Good Man,” releasing tomorrow.

Featuring twanging guitars and fiddle and steel licks from the outset, Behlen’s newest effort captures her rock solid voice delivering a windows down, driving, singalong chorus as she narrates a tale of falling for a new flame with a bit of a wild side.

We chatted with Behlen all about “Bad Boy, Good Man,” as well as her exciting year ahead, growth and more!

Pro Country: Your new single, “Bad Boy, Good Man,” follows the release of last year’s “Undeniable” and a duet with Jay Eric, “I’ll Never Stop Loving You.” Why did you feel that “Bad Boy, Good Man” was the right song to kick off 2024?

Brandi Behlen: “Bad Boy, Good Man” felt like the perfect song to kick off 2024 because it’s a track that speaks to the heart of what many people experience in relationships. I feel that, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been drawn to someone who may have a bit of a wild side, but deep down, they possess the qualities that make them a good partner. This song explores that dynamic in a fun and relatable way.

PC: Can you take us in the room and talk about the inspiration behind “Bad Boy, Good Man” and how the song came together?

BB: My last few singles were outside cuts. I wrote “Bad Boy, Good Man” a few months ago after being stuck in a writer’s block. It just felt good to finally get out of that rut with this song! I wanted the song to have a playful energy that reflected the excitement and uncertainty of falling for someone with a dual nature.

PC: It’s been five years since you released your debut single, “Daddy’s Money.” Over the last five years, where do you feel you’ve grown most as an artist? What is the biggest thing you’ve learned along the way?

BB: Five years! It’s crazy to even think about! Through the years, I feel that I’ve gotten better with just embracing the journey and staying true to myself. I used to care way too much about what others thought about me and my music. I’ve learned to just enjoy every gig, every song I write, and every moment I spend making music. That’s what it’s all about in the end.

PC: You have a busy performing schedule laid out for the spring and summer months, including an opening slot for 90s hitmaker Doug Stone on a date on his farewell tour. How much are you looking forward to staying busy on the stage and to sharing a stage with someone like Doug Stone?

BB: As an artist and a teacher, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming tour! Balancing my passion for music with my commitment to education has always been a rewarding journey, and having a busy performing schedule ahead fills me with excitement.

Opening for Doug Stone on his farewell tour is an incredible opportunity, both personally and professionally. As an artist, I’ve always admired Doug’s talent and the impact he’s had on the country music scene. Sharing the stage with him is the cherry on top of an already amazing sundae. Moreover, being a teacher, I see this tour as a chance to inspire my students. It’s not every day that they get to see their teacher up on stage doing what they love. I hope it encourages them to pursue their own dreams and passions, knowing that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. It’s a busy schedule, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

PC: With “Bad Boy, Good Man” now released, what do you have planned for the rest of 2024?

BB: With “Bad Boy, Good Man” out, I’m excited to continue sharing new music and connecting with fans throughout 2024. I’ve been writing and recording, so I’m looking forward to releasing more singles throughout the year, and of course playing live shows!

PC: Is there anything you’d like to add?

BB: Be sure to check me out on all the social media and streaming platforms. Thank you for all the support!
