Over the last handful of years, Donice Morace has been on a consistent, upward career trajectory on all fronts. He’s scoring hit after hit on Texas country radio, expanding his touring schedule into uncharted territories, and most recently, he’s kicked off his next musical chapter with the release of his new single, “Workin’ On Me.”
With some time having passed since his last upbeat single was sent to radio, Morace says he feels “Workin’ On Me,” equipped with a chorus made for windows-down driving and singing, is the perfect song to start his next chapter.
“It’s been a while since we’ve had a positive, up-tempo song,” says Morace. “That’s what we were looking for, and this song was a blessing at the perfect time.”
Though it came at the perfect time, it also came at an unexpected time for the Vidor, Texas native.
“We actually had a few other songs earmarked as options for the next single when one of the songwriters, Mark Nesler, dropped ‘Workin’ On Me’ in our laps,” says Morace. “It’s exactly what we were looking for, and as most great songs do, it changed our whole plan.”
Morace’s adjusted plan sees more new music on the horizon, with a handful of songs already finished.
“We have three songs already recorded and are about to go in the studio with a few more,” says Morace. “There will be stuff that I think mainstream listeners will really dig, along with songs our hardcore honky tonkers will expect to hear, as always.”
Morace moves forward with plenty of recent successes under his belt from his last album, This Life I Love, having scored three top 10 singles from the project, including his first number one.
“I look at that album as a huge success with having three radio singles reach the top 10, while garnering out first number one single with ‘Goin’ Goin’,” says Morace. “I think that’s the ultimate dream for every artist. Still, it blew me away that these songs meant so much to people that they committed them to memory and sang them back to me at shows and made TikTok videos using them. It’s pretty humbling.”
With those successes in tow, Morace says he’s looking forward to broadening his reach on the road and playing bringing his music to the people who have helped to make it successful, as well as making new fans along the way.
“I always love winning over new fans,” says Morace. “I’m really looking forward to some tour dates up in Nebraska and Pennsylvania. We’ve never performed in those regions.”
