As the resurgence of 90s country remains in full force, so does the welcome trend of the artists of today tipping their cowboy hats to the artists that laid the foundation in country music’s glory days.
When turning the clock back to the 90s, a song that consistently brought boots to the dance floor is Dwight Yoakam’s rocking “Fast As You,” with its now iconic guitar riff being instantly recognizable every time it comes over the airwaves.
The thing about covering such an iconic, beloved song is that doing it justice, all the while, making it your own, can feel like an insurmountable task, but as soon as the fiddle lick kicks off on Hayden Haddock’s offering of the song, it’s clear that he did exactly that. For just over three minutes of running time, Haddock transports us to a Texas dancehall as the Trent Willmon produced track keeps its pedal to the metal for its duration.
“I am a HUGE fan of Dwight Yoakam and have always especially loved performing ‘Fast As You,'” says Haddock. “It is a regular in our live shows, so we wanted to make it our own but still keep the foundation of the song true to what makes it so awesome.”
“Fast As You” serves as Haddock’s first release since last May’s “Tequila,” which featured Texas country mainstay Jon Wolfe and has amassed hundreds of thousands of streams across platforms.
Awesome job guys! I’m buying and listening!
