Skip Ewing Tries to Outrun a Heartbreak with “Wreck of My Heart” Music Video [Premiere]

Skip Ewing has spent four decades spinning his life into country songs. Some of those songs have become country music standards of the 1990s and 2000s, while his more recent efforts prove that the Redlands, California native still has plenty left to offer each time he puts pen to paper.

Ewing’s newest single, “Wreck of My Heart,” was spawned from a real-life head-on collision he walked away from in years past, and serves as the latest taste of his forthcoming album, Road To California, set for release this spring.

To accompany the single release, Ewing is unveiling a music video for the song, which we are honored to premiere today!

Likening a car accident to a heartbreak, Ewing says he and his wife crafted the idea for the video that perfectly marries fun and humor with the feelings of being unable to escape an old flame.

“When my wife Linda and I started brainstorming the concept for the ‘Wreck of My Heart’ video, we wanted to do something with an element of fun, and illustrate how this guy’s heart was still constantly messing with his head. It was important that we parallel the metaphor of post-car-accident to heartbreak,” says Ewing. “The ‘doctor of interior design’ (psychologist element) got us thinking that he would figuratively see his ‘old’ love everywhere, and maybe at times believe she was actually there tailing him in the rear view mirror.”

  1. Skip,

Excellent song and video! Great production. Been following your career since the beginning and I don’t believe you can write a bad song. You and Linda make a great team doing the videos. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Looking forward to the new album. Hope to see you on the road.
